Inter will hope to take advantage of the Coppa Italia’s two-legged semifinal system when it travels to Juventus Tuesday. The Old Lady was victorious in leg one, taking a 2-1 victory from the San Siro thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo brace. But if Inter can come out on top this week (as long as it scores 2+ goals), it will be the Nerazzurri heading to the Coppa Italia finale in May.

Taking into account the fact that Wednesday night’s meeting between Juventus and Inter will be their 301th in all competitions, it is easy to understand the hype and expectations behind what is always one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in the Italian football calendar.

The two rivals have experienced vastly different fortunes in Serie A during the middle period of the season. Having made a miserable start, Juve have stormed to 11 consecutive league victories, while Inter have only won three of their last eight. Inter slipped down to fourth in the table, while Massimiliano Allegri’s champions have surged up to second place, within two points of leaders Napoli.

Juventus did not produce a splendid performance in Sunday’s Serie A derby against Roma, but the Bianconeri eventually scored the winner and thanks to the 1-0 triumph over the Giallorossi they strengthened their grip on Scudetto.

Juverntus İnter Head to Head

Juventus and Inter have met 29 times in the Coppa Italia, and Juventus will go into the first leg with a slender advantage of 13 cup wins to nine over Inter. The Juventus have eliminated the Nerazzurri in all three of their previous semi-final clashes going on to win the trophy twice having done so, in 1937/38 and 1982/83.

Juventus and Inter have previously met in the Coppa Italia semi-finals in the 1937/38, 1982/83 and 2003/04 editions of the competition. The Bianconeri made it through to the final on all three occasions. Juventus haven’t beaten Inter in the Coppa Italia since February 1992. The seven meetings since then have produced three Nerazzurri wins and four draws.
