Arsenal may table an offer for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier before the transfer window closes, which would see Hector Bellerin moving in the other direction, according to Football.London‘s Chris Wheatley.
The journalist, who is pretty reliable when it comes to the Gunners, claims a swap deal is a “genuine prospect” with the London club very keen on bringing the England international back to the Premier League.
It remains to be seen, though, whether Atletico would be open to offloading Trippier. Reports in Spain in recent weeks have suggested that the La Liga champions would want anything between €40m (£34m) and €60m (£51m) for the 30-year-old.
The former Spurs star’s valuation has already put off Manchester United, and while including Bellerin in the deal would reduce the price, any hopes that Arsenal could make it into a straight swap would be very optimistic, to say the least.
The Gunners are also said to be exploring other ways to offload Bellerin, which would free up space for a new right-back, so we shall see how things develop over the next 11 days.
