The agent of Racing Genk striker Paul Onuachu has welcomed interest in the Nigerian international from the likes of Arsenal.

The Gunners, along with West Ham and Brighton, have been linked with the 27-year-old in recent days. However, the player’s representative says that, while he has not had direct contact with Mikel Arteta’s side, his client would be keen on the move as he is a supporter of the London club:

“It will be nice if Arsenal want him as he is a boyhood fan of the team, but that is not the case at the moment. No contact has been made yet. We are only seeing it in the papers and on the internet. I can’t confirm anything at the moment because we are still very much at the stage of receiving and assessing offers. We will be more clear on options soon. For now, we are not confirming anything.”

Whether Arsenal are actually keen on Onuachu, it is up for debate. The forward was in impressive form last season, scoring 35 goals in all competitions, but he wasn’t playing in the strongest league.

It is likely that the Gunners are looking at potential options to strengthen their frontline, although it is thought that a signing will only be made in that area if they offload the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

Both players have one year remaining on their contracts and the club are reportedly open to offers for the pair.
