Borussia Monchengladbach have received “inquiries” from Arsenal, Manchester City and Napoli for Denis Zakaria, according to Tag24.
The German news website reports that the three clubs are the teams most interested in signing the Swiss international this summer, who is likely to be sold due to his contract situation.
Zakaria has less than a year remaining on his current deal at Gladbach and, while the Bundesliga club are keen on giving him an extension, the midfielder has his heart set on a move elsewhere.
It was hoped that the 24-year-old’s value would have increased after a strong European Championships for Switzerland, but he was a bit-part player as the country were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Spain.
A knee injury suffered last year has set back Zakaria’s progress. He had also been tracked by Liverpool and Manchester United but his form and fitness means there will be far fewer suitors this summer.
With the Gunners expected to tie up a deal for Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, Zakaria is unlikely to be a priority target, although it seems he is being monitored closely.
