Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara is available for only €12m (£10.2m) this summer, according to reports in the Italian media.

It was claimed back in May that the Guinean international had been offered to Arsenal, along with Cengiz Under, in Roma’s attempts to secure a deal for Granit Xhaka.

The Gunners have been interested in Diawara previously but it seems they are no longer keen on his services, with the London club demanding a cash-only offer for Xhaka instead.

Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly demanding €20m (£17m), while Roma are holding firm with their last bid, which was said to be worth an initial €15m (£12.8m).

If Xhaka is sold off, Arsenal will be looking for a replacement, but it certainly won’t be a player like Diawara. The club are closing in on a deal to sign Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, while it is believed that the Gunners have opened talks about snapping up Wolves’ Ruben Neves.
