Arsenal are set to fight it out with Everton and AC Milan for Nice forward Amine Gouiri, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website claims that the Gunners are weighing up a possible move for the 22-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.
Gouiri came through Lyon’s academy and he was widely regarded as one of the most talented young players coming through the ranks of French football.
However, a lack of game time and a contract dispute led to him leaving the Ligue One side for Nice in 2020. He has since gone on to excel in the south of France, scoring 16 goals last season, and bagging another 12 so far this campaign.
Kylian Mbappe has said that he is a big fan of Gouiri. He singled him out when discussing Ligue One players in an interview last year:
“I watch nearly all the Ligue 1 matches… I am following Nice particularly closely. Gouiri is really not bad at all!”
Whether Gouiri has the ability to lead the line for a team like Arsenal, though, it is hard to know, but there is no doubt that he is a very promising player.
