Arsenal have offered Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo a €6m a season (£97k a week) deal, according to Spanish reporter Gerard Romero.
The journalist claims, however, that Manchester United have already proposed a contract of their own worth €8m a season:

Araujo is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract at Barca so the Gunners and United have both made a move for the Uruguayan international just in case he does decide to leave the Camp Nou this summer.
The centre-back is believed to be keen on staying in Spain but, so far, there hasn’t been that much progress made in terms of finding an agreement on a salary increase.
While Arsenal have seemingly offered less than United, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Araujo will accept the higher offer. Champions League football could also be a factor and, if Mikel Arteta’s side finish fourth ahead of their rivals, it could give them the edge in signing the player.
