While the fullback does have a €100m (£86m) release clause, it is likely that the 19-year-old’s contract situation has piqued the London club’s interest. His current deal is set to expire next summer.
A replacement for Hector Bellerin is expected to be needed with reports suggesting that the 26-year-old could return to Spain, with Atletico Madrid and Real Betis both said to be interested.
The pursuit of Vanderson is very likely to be influenced by technical director Edu who knows the Brazilian market very well. Considering the right-back has only made 26 senior appearances so far in his career, it would be a surprising decision if Arsenal do go after him.
