Arsenal have made a significant offer for New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner, according to ESPN journalist Taylor Twellman.

The American-based reporter claims that the Gunners have formalised their interest in the 13-cap United States international:

Turner has spent the best part of six years in New England, having originally arrived on a free transfer from Fairfield Stags in March 2016.

The shot-stopper did not become the MLS side’s first choice straight away but he has been a regular starter over the past four seasons.

Turner is being targeted by Arsenal due to the likelihood that current number two Bernd Leno will leave the Emirates. The German international was reportedly unhappy about his omission from the team for the Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Newcastle are said to have held talks with the player, although there are also believed to be interested clubs in Spain and Italy. It remains to be seen where he will end up.
