Arsenal are seriously considering replacing Edu in his role as technical director, according to reports in the English media.
Former Gunners star Marc Overmars (who is currently Director of Football at Ajax), Lokomotiv Moscow managing director Ralf Rangnick and former Chelsea supremo Michael Emenalo are said to be in the frame for the job.
Fans on Twitter would be very keen for Overmars to return to North London, considering his success during his time in charge at Ajax:
Oh God please Marc Overmars and Erik ten Hag please ?? i am on my knees.

Unlike Edu, Overmars has a wealth of experience as a sporting director, having been in the position at Ajax for nine years. The Dutchman himself has also expressed an interest in coming back to Arsenal.
When he was mentioned as a possible option for the technical director role back in 2017, Overmars said he would be open to an offer in the future:
“I think there is a list with some names and I might be on it. But it’s not that exciting yet. I know the club pretty well, I have always kept in touch with Arsenal. So in that respect, it is not surprising, because I’ve had a few good years.”
Whether Arsenal are seriously pursuing a replacement for Edu, we shall have to wait and see, but Overmars would certainly be a leading candidate, considering his past connection to the club and his track record.
