Ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has backed his former club’s plans to pursue a deal for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford this summer.
The forward, who has 46 caps for England, is reportedly unsettled at Old Trafford due to a lack of game time, and it has since emerged that the Gunners, West Ham and Newcastle could all make a move for him. Parlour says that he would be happy to see the 24-year-old make the switch to the Emirates:
“I am sure lots of clubs will be enquiring about Marcus Rashford if he was available in the summer. Certainly Arsenal, I would love him to come to Arsenal.”
There are a couple of issues with Rashford that could give Arsenal pause for thought before making an offer for the player. His form this season has been pretty poor, having scored just five goals in 24 appearances. With his best position being on the left-wing, it is also not an area that the Gunners need to prioritise.
Bringing in a new out-and-out centre forward should be the main goal and it would be unwise to devote a sizeable portion of the transfer budget to signing a player who doesn’t meet the criteria.
