Arsenal have not made any move to sign Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to the Guardian‘s Fabrizio Romano.

The England international, who scored 21 goals in all competitions last season, was believed to be a target for the Gunners, with a £50m offer being lined up but, speaking on Robbie Lyle’s YouTube channel, Romano said the London club are focusing on other areas of the pitch.

“I’m told there is nothing advanced… There are a lot of rumours with Arsenal [with regards to] strikers but also Arsenal have different priorities in the market. I think a striker is not the priority”

At the moment, it is believed Arsenal’s main focus is signing a midfielder, with Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga the closest to being finalised. The club are also searching for a right-back, with Hector Bellerin likely to leave the Emirates this summer, while negotiations are still ongoing to sign Ben White from Brighton.

A significant overhaul of the first team squad is expected to take place over the next few months, with some high-profile names, including Granit Xhaka, likely to depart as manager Mikel Arteta looks to improve on Arsenal’s eighth-place finish last campaign.
