Corinthians are favourites to sign former Chelsea forward Diego Costa, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Reports in Brazil over the weekend had credited Arsenal with an interest in the 33-year-old, but Romano says there have been no discussions with the Gunners, and that Corinthians are closing in on his signature:
Corinthians are pushing to complete the signing of Diego Costa in the next hours. Verbal agreement now closer – still waiting for last details and final answer from Brazilian striker who’s now free agent. 🇧🇷 #Timao

This is certainly not a surprise. The link always seemed a bit unlikely, considering Costa’s age and the fact he isn’t exactly a player who would improve the dressing room atmosphere.
If Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is allowed to leave for Al Nassr on loan, though, a new forward will have to be brought in before the transfer window shuts in ten days’ time.
Arsenal’s top priority is thought to be Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic but any deal for the Serbian this month looks very unlikely at this stage. Whether an alternative will be found in the interim, we shall have to wait and see.
