Mark Lawrenson is expecting a tight game when Arsenal travel to Brentford for their opening league fixture this evening.

The BBC pundit says he has been impressed with the Bees over the past couple of years and he is banking on the home team getting a draw against Mikel Arteta’s side:

“I fancy them to get something out of this one, because they are at home and in front of their fans, and we also don’t know what to expect from Arsenal yet, in terms of form or how their fitness will compare with the Bees.”

Lawrenson has gone with a 1-1 scoreline, which wouldn’t be a great result for the Gunners, considering they are facing an opponent who are playing their first-ever Premier League game.

Of course, Brentford are no pushovers and they will want to make an impression in front of their own fans, but you would think that Arsenal should have enough quality to get the three points.

The injury to Thomas Partey, and the fact that the squad hasn’t been strengthened to a degree that most fans would like, may play a part if the away side don’t get off to a winning start tonight.
