Danny Murphy still believes there is more to come from Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey after putting in a good performance against Burnley at the weekend.

The Ghanaian has struggled with fitness problems since he arrived at the Emirates a year ago and, while he put in a decent display at Turf Moor, Murphy says supporters have still not witnessed what the midfielder is truly capable of:

“I have seen a lot of Partey. I don’t think yet people who don’t know enough about him have seen the best of him. He is a really powerful intelligent footballer who is influential in that middle of the park in terms of protection of those back players.”

It is fair to say that fans were expecting a lot more from Partey after he was signed for £45m from Atletico Madrid on deadline day last October.

Minor injuries and niggles have made it difficult for the 28-year-old to gather any momentum and it’s meant that the midfielder has not looked anywhere close to the player who performed so well for Atletico during his time in Spain.

It will be hoped that Partey has now finally gotten over his injury issues, and over the next few months, we will begin to see a return on the heavy investment the club made last season.
