Arsenal have made an enquiry about Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, according to reports in the English media.
The England international is valued at around €40m (£34m) by Atletico so the Gunners may have to pay a sizeable amount to secure the services of the former Tottenham player.
Supporters on Twitter can’t understand why their club would want to spend so much on a player who turns 31 in September:
No more than 20M

Wouldn’t it be better to spend that on Lamptey or Arrons?

I’d start Kieran any day of the week over Bellerin but £34m is too much make no mistake we need an RB

It’s certainly a strange one. Arsenal do need to replace Hector Bellerin if he does leave the Emirates before the transfer window closes but you’d think that manager Mikel Arteta would want a younger replacement.
Trippier, who is also a target for Manchester United, is undoubtedly a good attacking fullback, but there are other options that could be considered, such as previous targets Tyler Adams, Tariq Lamptey and Max Aarons.
All three defenders have the potential to improve in the future and would certainly cost less than Trippier.
