Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal to record a relatively comfortable win when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium this weekend.

The fixture falls right in between the Hammers’ two matches against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League semi-finals, and Merson feels that distraction will hand the Gunners a big advantage:

“This is the perfect time for Arsenal to play West Ham and beat them. This is a nothing game for West Ham, but it could prove to be a massive result for Arsenal.”

Merson has gone with a 2-0 win to Arsenal, which seems like a fair prediction considering the circumstances. West Ham rested key players against Chelsea last weekend and they are likely to do the same on Sunday.

With Craig Dawson also suspended after his sending off at Stamford Bridge, David Moyes’ side will only have one available centre-half in Kurt Zouma, so the Gunners should be able to exploit that weakness

It must be said, Mikel Arteta’s men have not always risen to the occasion this season when they have faced a team the are expected to beat, but let’s hope things will be different this time.
