Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma is “close to” sealing a move to Arsenal, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website claims that Roma were considering making a bid for the player but the Serie A side believe they have already lost out on Bissouma, with the Malian international “destined” to make the switch to the Emirates.
This latest development comes off the back of Bissouma dropping some big hints on social media about his interest in moving to the Gunners.
Aston Villa were also thought to be one of the London club’s biggest rivals to sign the 25-year-old, but the Midlands side have dropped out of the race, while interest from Liverpool and Tottenham seems to have cooled.
It does all point towards Arsenal being Bissouma’s likeliest destination, although it is probably wise to be cautious about these reports from Italy. For starters, no respected English journalist has backed up these claims, while Brighton are still reportedly holding out for £50m, which would be a huge sum for a player with just a year left on his contract. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
