Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website claims that the Nigerian international is being targeted by the Gunners as they look for a “new number nine” ahead of the summer transfer window.
Osimhen has been in good form for Napoli this season, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances, but club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is expected to demand at least €100m (£84m) for the player.
They signed the 23-year-old for an initial €70m at the beginning of the 2019/20 season and, combined with the interest that is being shown in the forward from other teams, they are not going to offload him for a discounted price.
Calciomercato mention Newcastle as another possible suitor for Osimhen, while other reports in the Italian press today have also mentioned Manchester United and Tottenham. Considering the interest and the high valuation, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a move to snap him up.
