Arsenal and Everton are both interested in signing Schalke striker Matthew Hoppe, according to American reporter Grant Wahl.
The 20-year-old has impressed for the United States at the Gold Cup, having scored one goal and provided one assist in three appearances. Wahl claims it could well lead to the forward moving to the Premier League:
Hearing Matthew Hoppe (who’s having a good Gold Cup) is now drawing interest from Arsenal and Everton. It’s looking likely he’ll make a move from Schalke following Gold Cup.

Hoppe is unlikely to cost a great deal as although the American has two years remaining on his contract, Schalke are struggling financially and will listen to offers for any of their players following their relegation to the second tier.
Despite the German side’s problems last season, Hoppe was one of the few bright lights, scoring six goals in 22 Bundesliga matches. His most notable performance was a headline grabbing hat-trick against Hoffenheim back in January.
It’s likely other clubs, in addition to the Gunners and Everton, will be looking to snap up the forward so we shall see where he ends up before the transfer window closes.
