Arsenal’s performance against Brighton was simply not good enough and manager Mikel Arteta knows that if they can’t turn around their form quickly, their chances of securing a top-four finish will fade into the distance.
It’s a good thing then that they will be facing a team in Southampton who were thrashed 6-0 by Chelsea last weekend. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team were all over the place defensively and it will be interesting to see if their confidence has been seriously knocked by the display.
With the game being at St Mary’s, the Gunners may have to be prepared for a reaction from the Saints following their drubbing last time out, but Arteta’s men will be keen to exploit any vulnerabilities.
