Napoli won’t entertain any offers below the €100m (£85m) mark for Victor Osimhen, according to Il Mattino.

The Naples-based publication claims that Arsenal sent “emissaries” to start discussions about a deal for the Nigerian international, with the Gunners having a “base” fee of €60m (£51.4m) in mind.

However, the Serie A club have refused to enter negotiations about selling Osimhen, unless interested clubs are serious about matching their valuation for the player.

Il Mattino claims that “this is the answer that was given” to Mikel Arteta’s side and it is believed that any further bids below Napoli’s asking price will also be rejected.

It must be pointed out that Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen is disputed. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has denied that the Gunners are pursuing the 23-year-old, while Goal‘s Charles Watts believes talks were held.

This story from Il Mattino does appear to back up the latter’s version of events, although it seems clear that Osimhen won’t be a realistic target considering the cost of the transfer.
