Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans has revealed he will make a “decision” on his future at the end of the season.
The Belgian is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract at the King Power Stadium, with both Arsenal and Manchester United having been linked with the player. While Tielemans has not ruled out staying for another year with the Foxes, he is still on the fence about what to do:
“I am very calm about my future. My contract runs out in 2023. During the summer I will take a look at all my options and take a decision. It is not the case that I want to leave at all costs. I still haven’t made up my mind.”
“If I am to stay put for another year, then I will do so with pleasure. Leicester’s behaviour towards me has been top class. They have been very professional, and so have I – and that is something that won’t change. I try not to think too much about my future, and to focus on my performances, and this is paying off.”
Reliable reports back in January claimed that Tielemans’ agent had held talks with Gunners’ officials at the club’s London Colney training centre, indicating that there is serious interest in the 24-year-old from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Whether that will translate into an official bid this summer, we shall have to wait and see. Leicester are expected to demand at least €40m (£33.6m) for the Belgian international and, in addition to United, there is also expected to be competition from the likes of Real Madrid for the midfielder’s signature.
