Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain was given a rare start by manager Ange Postecoglou in the 3-2 win over Real Betis on Thursday evening.
The Scotland international did make a couple of good saves but his overall performance gave fans a timely reminder why he was unable to establish himself as number one for the Hoops.
Bain is likely to be in line for a new contract at Celtic Park, with his current deal having 18 months left to run, but supporters on Twitter are hoping that the club sell the 30-year-old next year and bring in a new backup for Joe Hart:
Bain is a liability An accident waiting to happen

I am a better goalkeeper than Bain . He was scared to catch the ball. The OG was unfortunate but summed him up . If Hart gets injured we’ve got Rab Douglas lite or Trex arms !!!

He was awful man. Must be a nightmare to play with, no confidence at all

He’s spent most of the night thinking he’s a centre forward 😂 proper fear when the ball’s at his feet

Scott Bain is a centre half with gloves on.

Bain’s performance against Betis wasn’t terrible. The shot-stopper was actually unlucky with the own goal, but there is a notable difference in quality between him and Hart.
With Vasilis Barkas expected to leave in January, Bain will not be let go anytime soon, but Celtic’s recruitment department will likely be looking at bringing in another keeper in the not too distant future.
