Celtic never really got going against Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final yesterday afternoon and one of those who really didn’t perform on the day was Jota.
The Portuguese Under 21 international was given the full 120 minutes by manager Ange Postecoglou but he struggled to make an impact on the game.
Fans on Twitter were pretty scathing about Jota’s performance when asked about what went wrong, with many questioning whether he is truly committed to playing for the Hoops:
A lot of things jota been missing for weeks Taylor who has been good was bad Hatate passes going astray no shots on target

I said it before about Jota. He is not a team player. He is a self preservationist. He is only trying to better himself at Celtic for the eyes of other clubs. But he’s missing one thing out ” You’ve got to be a team player”. Overrated and not worth £6m.

Jota is a sand dancer

Think Jota believed his own hype when talk of his arrival/departure were raised – still not sure I’d splash £6m on him….. rather pay £6-10m for CCV….

Jota is one of the most overrated players in our support I have seen. I don’t care what anyone says. His decision making when we had them on the counter was absolutely woeful.
We just seemed to think it was over at 1-0, didnt put them to the sword. A serious missed opportunity

He’s definitely going back to benfica.

Jota’s last goals for the club came all the way back in February in the 3-2 win over Aberdeen and, while he has provided a few assists recently, there is a general feeling that he has gone off the boil.
It certainly wasn’t one of the 23-year-old’s best games for Celtic yesterday and, with a decision to be made on whether the club should pay £6.5m to sign him on a permanent basis, there are now increasing doubts among supporters over his future.
