Celtic are “considering” whether to make an approach for Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill, according to 90min.com.

The website reports that majority shareholder Dermot Desmond is a big fan of the former Northern Ireland manager. It is believed that he tried to hire him before he appointed Brendan Rodgers back in 2016 but he failed to convince the Northern Irishman to leave his post with the national team.

However, since then, O’Neill has moved into club management, with the 51-year-old taking on the role at Stoke in 2019. The Potters were bottom of the English Championship table at the time, but he guided them to safety.

This season, he has built on his initial success, with Stoke currently sitting 11th after 34 games played, although it must be said that he has lost his last three games.

Whether O’Neill is seen as the number one candidate, it is not known. CelticFCNews is looking for fans to have their say on who the next manager should be. Take part in our poll here.
