Celtic have enquired about the availability of Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey on two occasions, according to reports in the Italian media.
The ex-Hoops academy graduate has been on the club’s radar even since he left Lennoxtown but it appears their attempts to bring him back to Scotland will end in failure.
Hickey has already said he is happy at Bologna and it is believed that he has no intention of moving clubs as he continues his development under the guidance of Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is thought to be keen on signing a new left-back in January but it is unlikely to be the 19-year-old, who is also reportedly an Aston Villa and AC Milan target.
There are claims that Bologna won’t let Hickey leave for less than £6.8m, which would likely be outside the Hoops’ transfer budget. With that being the case, it appears they are already looking at potential alternatives, with Kawasaki Frontale’s Reo Hatate having been linked in recent days.
