Celtic are interested in Union Berlin left-back Niko Giesselmann, according to reports in the German media.
The Hoops are said to have joined a number of English clubs in pursuing the 30-year-old, who has been a regular for his side in the Bundesliga this campaign.
Giesselmann’s contract at Union Berlin expires at the end of the season and it isn’t clear whether Celtic will try to snap up the defender in January or wait until they can sign him on a free transfer next summer.
Manager Ange Postecoglou is very much on the lookout for a new left-back. Greg Taylor is back in training after a lengthy spell out with a shoulder injury but competition is needed for the Scottish international.
Giesselmann is an attacking fullback by trade, having also played regularly as a wingback for Union Berlin. The German has racked up three goals and four assists in 14 league appearances this campaign.
