Celtic are set to win the race to sign Wigan Athletic striker Kyle Joseph, according to reports in the UK.
Both Rangers and Arsenal have also been tracking the Scotland Under 19 international in recent months but it is believed that the Hoops are close to securing the teenager on a pre-contract agreement.
Joseph’s current deal at Wigan expires in the summer so he is allowed to speak to other clubs ahead of a transfer at the end of the season. His form since making his senior debut for the Latics back in October has made him a sought-after figure.
The 19-year-old scored his first senior goal on just his fifth start for the first team in a 1-0 win against Sunderland. He then bagged his first hat-trick in a 4-3 victory over Burton Albion just after Christmas.
Considering Wigan are second from bottom in League One, Joseph’s five goals and one assist in 14 appearances look all the more impressive.
