Celtic have slapped a €30m (£27m) asking price on centre-back Kristoffer Ajer, according to Tuttosport. The Italian newspaper claims AC Milan are very keen on the Norwegian but the defender is currently outside the Rossoneri’s transfer budget.
It may lead to the Serie A side moving on to other targets, with Hoffenheim’s Melayro Bogarde and Freiburg’s Robin Koch also being considered.
However, there is still a possibility that Milan could come back in for Ajer if they fail to sign another defender ahead of next season. With the 22-year-old now inside the final two years of his contract at Parkhead, the Italian club may look to persuade Celtic into lowering their valuation.
The financial impact of the global health crisis may also be another factor to consider, with transfer prices expected to be much lower this summer. Even so, it does appear that the Hoops will stick to their guns for now.
