Peterborough forward Ivan Toney will make a decision over whether he wants to move to Celtic “in the coming days”, according to The Scotsman.
The newspaper believes his switch to Brentford hinges on the Bees winning their playoff final against Fulham tomorrow and being promoted to the Premier League.
Celtic have reportedly kept their £5m offer for the player on the table, despite Peterborough having turned down their bid, but if Toney rejects Brentford, it would provide the Hoops with another opportunity to sign the 24-year-old.
There have been some reports that the forward’s asking price is between £10m and £12.5m and, if that is the case, that would rule the Scottish champions out of the running.
However, if Toney’s move to Griffin Park does collapse, Peterborough may well have to consider lower bids for Toney in order to make sure that the player is sold this summer. The former Newcastle player scored 26 goals in all competitions for the Posh last season.
