Celtic will have to pay €15m (£13.6m) if they want to sign Sampdoria centre-back Omar Colley, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Serie A side signed the Gambian international from Racing Genk for €10m two seasons ago and would expect to make a profit on the defender if he is sold this summer.

Celtic are looking to sign a centre-half, having been heavily linked with Brighton’s Shane Duffy over the past week, but Colley’s asking price is likely to be way too steep.

If the 27-year-old was made available on loan, a move for the player would make more sense but it is believed the Gambian is also being tracked by English teams.

Newcastle and Burnley have been credited with an interest in Colley, and if either club were to make a formal bid, the Hoops would not be able to compete. This transfer rumour is unlikely to have any legs to it.
