Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton has praised Joe Hart for making such a big impact since arriving from Tottenham at the start of the season.

Some were sceptical about the decision to sign the former Manchester City goalkeeper with many, including Sutton himself, believing that the 35-year-old was past his best. Sutton says he was glad to be proven wrong about the Englishman, who has been a big upgrade on some of the Hoops’ previous number ones:

“Joe Hart has proven many wrong, including myself. I wasn’t sure he could hit the heights again, but he has done so in style and is in a different league to the likes of Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard, who were the previous custodians.”

It was undoubtedly a gamble bringing Hart in. In recent years, he has struggled to hold down a place at clubs such as West Ham and Burnley, and he had just spent a year as understudy to Hugo Lloris at Spurs.

However, almost straight away, the former England international looked very much at home in between the sticks at Celtic Park. Not only is he performing on the pitch but his experience has also been important in the dressing room; something that manager Ange Postecoglou has commented on himself. As Sutton points out, he has played a big role in the Hoops’ title challenge this campaign.
