Celtic have not made an offer for Mohamed Magdy, according to Al Ahly’s Director of Football Sayed Abdel Hafeez.

The 24-year-old’s agent Abdelrahman Ismail revealed yesterday that there was strong interest from the Hoops in the attacking midfielder, but Hafeez has lashed out at the player’s representative, stating it is not the time to be discussing the future of the player:

“Firstly, there has been no offer for Mohamed from Celtic or anyone else. And secondly, this is not the time to talk about transfers. All our focus is on the Champions League Final and this kind of needless talk is distracting for both the player and the club. We accept there will be interest and eventual offers for him and that’s a tribute to his success this season. But at this moment, there are no offers and Mohamed is putting all his efforts in his preparation for the Final.”

Magdy was originally linked with a move to Celtic Park before the transfer window closed last month but it seems that the Egyptian international would not be signed to become part of the first team setup under manager Neil Lennon anyway.

The midfielder’s agent also suggested that the Hoops were intending to loan him to a team on the continent. To be honest with you, it is a very strange transfer saga and it appears as though Celtic’s name is just being used in a dispute between the player’s representative and his club at the moment.
