Celtic have had a €3m (£2.53m) bid for Caen striker Alexander Mendy rejected, according to reports in the French media.

The 28-year-old has scored 16 goals in all competitions this season, and it appears that the Hoops are keen to add even more firepower to their frontline.

Manager Ange Postecoglou has signed the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda over the past year, who have all contributed their fair share in attack, but it seems Celtic are keen on signing Mendy too. Supporters on Twitter are not convinced that the club should be spending more money on a position where they are already well covered:

It should be pointed out that Mendy hasn’t exactly been a prolific scorer in his career. Up until this season, the most he had managed in a single campaign was eight. When you also consider the player’s age, it doesn’t seem like the type of business that Celtic would normally do.
