Frank Lampard is now third-favourite to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic manager after being sacked by Chelsea earlier today.

Betfair have priced him at 6/1, behind the bookies’ frontrunner Rafa Benitez (8/15) and former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe (7/2).

Whether there is any basis to this, though, it is up for debate. There are no newspaper reports that have hinted that the Hoops would consider Lampard as a potential candidate.

However, after leaving his job at Stamford Bridge, some punters may have put two and two together and decided that it is worth taking a bet on him now he is available.

Lampard has relatively little experience in management. His first season as number one saw him guide Derby County to the final of the English Championship playoffs. He then moved to take over at his former club Chelsea, where he gained legendary status as a player.

During his first season with the Blues, he finished fourth and guided them to a FA Cup final, whilst also under a transfer ban. However, his second campaign has been less successful, with the club sitting in ninth before he was sacked.
