In a downright bizarre twist, Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas has offered his resignation after his club’s decision to sign Olivier Ntcham from Celtic against his wishes.
With the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss on the verge of leaving the Stade Velodrome, the bookmakers have now made him 16/1 to take over from Neil Lennon at Parkhead.
Hoops supporters on Twitter have been joking about the irony of AVB making the switch to Scotland as a consequence of Celtic selling Ntcham:
Villas Boas walks after the club sign Ntcham….go get him @CelticFC

It’s likely that Villas-Boas’ odds are shortening simply because some punters like the idea, rather than there being any real possibility that the 43-year-old will be appointed.
Rafa Benitez remains the favourite to replace Lennon, with current assistant manager John Kennedy second, Eddie Howe third and Frank Lampard fourth in the running.
Despite a humiliating home defeat to St Mirren at the weekend, changing managers before the end of the season is looking very unlikely with hopes of ten league titles in a row left in tatters.
