Celtic are believed to be closing in on the signing of Yokohama F. Marinos forward Daizen Maeda but, so far, there have been no reports that the deal has been finalised.
The 24-year-old was the J-League top goalscorer last season and he is believed to be available for around £3m. Supporters on Twitter are hoping that the Hoops can seal the signing of the Japanese international as soon as possible:
He’d run riot in SPFL. C’mon @CelticFC give us a belated Christmas pressie🇯🇵

Aside from his pace and finishing he looks fearless and strong, added in a bargain at the price ✌🏻🍀

If we don’t sign Maeda and Hatate, somebody else will. They will smash it in Scotland.

Maeda played under Ange Postecoglou at Yokohama so it is not surprising that the Celtic manager wants to link up with his former player once again, especially considering his excellent form.
With Kyogo Furuhashi having ripped things up since his arrival from the J-League in the summer, fans have every confidence that Maeda can replicate the success of his fellow countryman.
The January transfer window is just days away from opening and we may not have to wait long before we find out whether the striker is on his way to Glasgow.
