Celtic would be getting a player with a big future ahead of him if they sign ES Setif midfielder Ahmed Kendouci, according to Eurosport‘s Dean Jones.

While the journalist doesn’t provide any insight into whether the Hoops will sign the Algerian this month, Jones says that the player is someone who could make an impact at Parkhead:

“From what I’ve heard, this guy’s got huge potential. And Celtic would be a great stepping stone for him at this stage in his career.”

Kendouci is believed to be valued at around £1m by his club, which is not a massive amount, but Celtic have only recently signed a midfielder in Matt O’Riley.

The Englishman joined from MK Dons for £1.5m last week, and with Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi having also arrived in January, there isn’t really an urgent need to bring in a player like Kendouci.

Celtic’s scouting department are likely to be keeping a close eye on his development, especially if Jones’ appraisal of the player is accurate, but it’s probably best not to expect the 22-year-old to be brought in anytime soon.
