Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze has spoken out about the interest being shown in him from Celtic.

Reports both in the UK and Sweden have confirmed that the Hoops are keen on the Iraqi international but, when asked about a potential move, Jeahze wasn’t giving too much away:

“I can’t say much about that. I’ve always been very clear. If I am going to leave Hammarby it will be for something better than Hammarby. I love it here in Hammarby.”

Considering Hammarby won’t be in Europe next season, after finishing the 2021 campaign in fifth, it would suggest that Jeahze would deem Celtic to be a step up in his career, especially if the Scottish club win the title and qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Jeahze’s contract expires in 2023 so he may also be available for a pretty low price, with it being suggested he could be signed for between £1.6m and £2m.

The 25-year-old would certainly strengthen an area of weakness in Ange Postecoglou’s squad. Greg Taylor doesn’t really have much competition for his place on the left-hand side of defence, with Josip Juranovic having covered for the Scottish international when he has been injured this season.
