Ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton insists that the Hoops still have a chance of winning the league title this season if both Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths can start scoring again on a regular basis.

Edouard scored from the penalty spot in the Scottish Cup final last weekend, while Griffiths has bagged two goals in his last two appearances, and Sutton believes the Scottish club’s hopes of winning ten in a row lie with them:

“It’s not too late. Griffiths and Edouard still have the chance to recapture their brilliant and consistent best and blast Celtic right back into this title race. You can’t say they haven’t got the talent. We have all seen that they have. In bundles.”

“No-one believes they are both top-quality strikers more than I do, but producing it fleetingly or when it suits is no good. So it’s over to those two lads to start displaying that magic week in and week out again just as they have done in the past for the sake of themselves and their club.”

To be honest, even if Edouard and Griffiths start firing on all cylinders, Neil Lennon’s side are still relying on Rangers imploding in the second half of the season but, that is possible, considering the Glasgow rivals’ lack of experience in leading from the front.

What Celtic can do, with Edouard and Griffiths scoring, is put the maximum pressure on their opponents by racking up consecutive wins against Hamilton and Dundee United before the crucial derby at the start of next month.
