Sky Sports Italy journalist Mario Giunta has claimed that Celtic have tabled a bid for Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

The Swedish international was linked with the Hoops earlier in the summer but it was thought that the Scottish champions’ capture of Vasilis Barkas from AEK Athens would have ended their interest.

However, it appears that Celtic are very much still keen on Olsen, but it looks as though they may need to improve on their first proposal for the keeper, with Giunta taking to Twitter yesterday to say Celtic had made a “low offer”:

It remains to be seen if there is any truth to this story. After having splashed out on one goalkeeper, it would be strange if they were after another.

The Hoops have lost two keepers this summer, with Craig Gordon having left on a free transfer, while Fraser Forster returned to Southampton after his loan spell at Parkhead ended. Even so, manager Neil Lennon still has a competent backup to Barkas in Scott Bain.

Olsen cost €12m (£11m) when he moved to Roma from FC Copenhagen in 2018 but he struggled to establish himself at the Giallorossi.
