Celtic centre-halves Christopher Jullien and Cameron Carter-Vickers will have to make decisions on their futures at the club this summer, according to The Athletic journalist Kieran Devlin.

The website’s Hoops correspondent is a pretty reliable source when it comes to the inner workings of the Glasgow club and, when asked about Jullien’s situation at the club, he suggested it could be tied to Carter Vickers’:

“I understand there is nothing significantly wrong with Jullien’s recovery after 15 months out with injury, however, by the summer he will have only one year left on his contract. When combined with the possibility that Carter-Vickers decides not to turn his loan from Tottenham Hotspur into a permanent move, it makes the centre-back question this summer an intriguing one.”

Jullien has only played 16 minutes of football so far this season, and that came in the last round of the Scottish Cup against Raith Rovers last month. Whether he’ll be given another run-out by manager Ange Postecoglou versus Dundee United this evening, we shall have to wait and see.

As Devlin mentions, Jullien is fit, having returned to full fitness a number of weeks ago after returning from a long-term knee injury. He won’t be content with his lack of game time and, if Carter-Vickers does opt to remain at Parkhead, he could look to leave.

In terms of Carter-Vickers, while the Hoops do have an option to sign the American, he is under no obligation to agree to a permanent move. Reports indicate that Leicester, Wolves, Watford and Bournemouth are all keen on snapping up the Spurs defender.
