Sampdoria have yet to receive any concrete bids for centre-back Omar Colley, according to SampNews24. The Italian website claims that despite interest from Celtic, West Ham and West Brom “no official proposals” have been put on the table for the Gambian international.

There were reports last week that the Hoops had made an enquiry about signing the 27-year-old but it’s likely that the defender’s £10m asking price will prove too steep for the Scottish champions.

Manager Neil Lennon recently denied that they had made a bid for Colley and Sampdoria’s president Massimo Ferrero has also stated he won’t be letting the player go on the cheap, considering the figures involved in the sale of another centre-half, Kalidou Koulibaly:

“Why should I just give Colley away? Have you seen how much (Napoli President Aurelio) De Laurentiis is negotiating for the possible sale of Kalidou Koulibaly? Let’s not joke around, here.”

Colley is hardly in the same class as Koulibaly and Ferrero is likely trying to drum up interest in his player in order to finance Sampdoria’s own transfer business. Whether Celtic will make their move for the defender before deadline day, we shall have to wait and see.
