Roma head coach Paulo Fonseca has been offered to Celtic by a third-party agent, according to Daily Record journalist Duncan Castles.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, the reporter said that the Portuguese manager could well be a contender to take over at Parkhead in the summer.

Fonseca will be leaving his role at the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season, with Jose Mourinho having already been announced as his successor.

Reports in Italy have already linked Fonseca with the Arsenal job, with Mikel Arteta’s future in doubt after a poor league campaign, but there is no certainty that he would be appointed by the Gunners.

Fonseca has claimed three Ukrainian league titles with Shakhtar Donetsk, and has also won cups with both Porto and Sporting Braga, so the 48-year-old does have the pedigree, but it remains to be seen whether he is a genuine candidate for the Celtic job.
