Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Tom Rogic is out for the “medium-term” after coming off injured in the 4-0 win over Ross County last weekend.
The Australian has already had to pull out of international duty and Postecoglou says his fitness will have to be assessed ahead of the derby against Rangers at the beginning of next month:
“He probably won’t train this week and we’ll just assess how he goes in the week leading up to the next game. But suffice to say he was pretty sore after it. He probably could’ve been a helluva lot worse but, at the same time, it’s enough to keep him out for the medium-term.”
Rogic was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge from Ross County defender Kayne Ramsay, who was sent off by referee Don Robertson for the tackle.
Ankle injuries can be hard to diagnose straight away due to swelling and, considering Rogic’s past injury record, fans won’t be that optimistic that he’ll make a swift recovery.
Saying that, though, the 29-year-old has managed to play 42 games this season and, while the Hoops do have options in the squad to cope without him, his creativity would be missed if he doesn’t make the trip to Ibrox.
