Celtic are set to give goalkeeper Conor Hazard a “bumper extension” to his current contract, according to the Scottish Sun.

Manager Neil Lennon gave the 22-year-old a surprise start against Lille in the 3-2 win on Thursday night and he was rewarded for his performance with another chance to impress against Kilmarnock in the league at the weekend.

The Hoops had actually reached an impasse with Hazard over a new deal and it looked as though he could leave at the end of this current contract in June. In fact, it is believed Dundee wanted to take him on loan at the start of the season but the Scottish champions weren’t prepared to let him go as he could have left on a free transfer next year anyway.

However, after being given his opportunity to become Celtic’s number one, it seems as though whatever that was holding up negotiations has now been resolved.
