Celtic are prepared to pay £3.5m for Shabab Dubai winger Mehdi Ghayedi, according to the Irna News Agency.
The Iranian publication claims that the Hoops have already had two bids knocked back for the 23-year-old but they are still keen on signing the player during the January transfer window.
Ghayedi has been capped twice by Iran but his performances for Shabab this season haven’t exactly been great. He did impress in a 4-3 win over Sharjah, scoring twice and providing an assist. Other than that, though, he has only bagged two other goals in 14 appearances.
Whether there is actually any truth to this latest report, we shall have to wait and see. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou isn’t exactly short of options out wide with the likes of Jota, James Forrest, Liel Abada and Mikey Johnston all available for selection in the first-team squad.
Ghayedi has also only recently moved away from Iran, having made the switch to the United Arab Emirates back in August.
