Norwich City “recently” made a €12m (£10m) offer for Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer, according to Fussballtransfers.com.
The German website does not make it clear whether the bid was rejected, although it is assumed that it was considering there has been no further mention of it in the Scottish media.
Ajer is also being pursued by Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, while Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.
Considering the Norwegian defender has just one year remaining on his current deal, it is somewhat surprising that the Hoops rejected the offer from Norwich.
The Scottish club do appear to be playing hardball in their negotiations to sell players. Leicester are believed to have pulled out of a deal to sign Odsonne Edouard after refusing to match the £25m asking price.
Of course, Celtic do run the risk of losing the two stars for nothing next year if they are not sold before the summer transfer window closes.
