Arsenal remain in the hunt to snap up Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The Gunners did not get involved in the race for the 23-year-old when Leicester were seemingly close to signing the Frenchman last month, but journalist Liam Bryce claims “sources close” to the Gunners suggest they could be looking to “firm up” their interest soon:

Whether that will, in fact, happen, we shall have to wait and see. Arsenal are focusing their efforts on signing a number of players including the likes of Brighton’s Ben White and Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale, so negotiations over Edouard could still be some way off.

A new striker may move to the top of their agenda if it becomes clear that neither Alexandre Lacazette nor Eddie Nketiah will sign new deals. Both players’ contracts expire next year.

Edouard is also in the same boat, but Celtic have been reluctant to reduce their asking price for the forward, who scored 22 goals in all competitions last season. The main reason for that is believed to be down to the fact that they owe Paris Saint-Germain a sizeable slice of any transfer fee.

There has been an expectation that a bidding war between interested clubs could keep the price tag relatively high. West Ham, Southampton and Brighton have also been linked with the former France Under 21 international, but it seems Arsenal are the only team keen on making an approach currently.
